Essential Player Equipment

Essential Uniforms for Every Player

Travel Players must wear the official East Haven Youth Soccer uniform, which includes a Gold jersey with white accents, black shorts, and black team socks. The uniform is designed for comfort and durability during play and only require replacing as parents choose to.

In-House and clinic players are provided with EHYS shirts.  Shorts and sock colors are the players choice.

All jerseys and In-House shirts display the club’s logo on the front left chest and player numbers on the back. Uniform colors and styles are standardized to maintain a cohesive team appearance on the field.

Player Uniform Requirements

Shin Guards required for Every Player

Shin Guards are essential for player safety.  As players go to kick the ball, often times they miss and end up kicking another player in the shins due to the height of the ball.

In the in-house league and all travel leagues, referees check for shin guards prior to the game.  Players without them are not allowed to play in the game and if they remove them during the game, are subject to disciplinary actions.

All coaches are required to ensure players also wear shin guards during any practices that involve contact.

Clinic-aged players are usually emotional and get upset when they are contacted.  Wearing shin guards protect their little legs from a very painful kick

Cleats Built for Performance and Comfort

Choosing the right cleats is essential for young players to perform safely and confidently on the field. Opt for lightweight designs that offer good traction and ankle support tailored to youth soccer.

In-House players and travel players are expected to have cleats.  Clinic players find cleats helpful for soft and wet grounds, but are not mandatory

Recommended Cleats for Youth Soccer

Players should come prepared with essential gear beyond uniforms and cleats. Shin guards protect against impacts during play and are mandatory for all matches. High-quality soccer socks help keep shin guards in place and provide comfort. Staying hydrated is crucial, so each player needs a personal water bottle during practices and games.

Optional Safety Gear for Added Protection

Mouthguards are not mandatory but recommended, especially in competitive matches or for players prone to contact. They help protect teeth and reduce injury risks during collisions.
Other optional safety items include padded goalkeeper gloves and ankle supports. Coaches will advise when these extras are necessary based on position and player needs.
